In short

For most people, the best free AI video generator today is Google Vids. A personal Google account gets 60 seconds of AI video clips a month at no cost, and the allowance renews. For a narrated faceless video, look at Fliki. For a watermark-free export of footage you already have, use Microsoft Clipchamp, which is an editor, not a generator. Viibeo publishes this page and sells an AI video maker. Our own free plan is a short test rather than a long-term free tool, and the comparison below says so.

  • Google Vids is the best starting point for free prompt-to-video clips: 60 seconds a month on a personal Google account, renewed monthly.
  • Fliki's free plan renews each month and covers voice plus stock footage, with a watermark and a 720p limit.
  • Microsoft Clipchamp exports without a watermark at up to 1080p for free, but you supply and edit the footage.
  • Viibeo's free plan covers two watermarked stock-footage shorts of up to 30 seconds. It does not renew.
  • Pika, InVideo and Luma are not practical free options: Pika's free plan includes no credits, InVideo publishes no free allowance, and Luma lists no free plan on its pricing page.

Which free AI video generator should you pick?

Pick by the job, because these tools make different things. "AI video generator" covers prompt-to-clip models, narrated video builders, avatar presenters and editors with AI features.

What you want to make Start with Why
Short AI clips from a prompt Google Vids Renewing monthly allowance with no subscription
Narrated faceless video with stock media Fliki Renewing monthly credits, voices included
One test of a finished 9:16 faceless short Viibeo Script, voice, footage and captions in one pass
A clean edit of footage you already have Clipchamp No watermark on the free plan, up to 1080p
A talking avatar presenter HeyGen 3 videos a month, up to 1 minute each, watermarked
One test of a cinematic video model Runway 125 one-time credits, watermarked

If you plan to post every day, no plan here will carry you for long. Use a free plan to find out which tool suits you, then pay for the one you would keep using.

How do the free plans compare?

These are the published limits on each tool's own pages, checked on 6 November 2026. "Not stated" means we did not find the answer on those pages, not that the limit does not exist.

How did we check these plans?

We read each tool's pricing page and, where they exist, its help pages on 6 November 2026. We compared what the plan makes, how much you get, whether the allowance renews, the watermark and the top export resolution.

We did not run a side-by-side quality test, so this page does not rank how good the output looks. We took Viibeo's limits from our product code. Pricing pages can vary by country and change without notice, so check the plan before you rely on it. The links are listed under Sources.

What do you actually get from each free plan?

Google Vids

Google's help page lists 60 seconds of AI video clips a month for personal accounts, plus 50 credits a month for other AI features such as voiceovers and images. The limit resets on the first of each month and does not roll over.

Google's April 2026 announcement described the allowance as 10 generations a month, so older articles may quote that number. Google's pages we read do not state the watermark or free resolution, so check an export before you plan around it.

Best for: Short generated clips, including B-roll to cut into a longer video.

Weak spot: 60 seconds a month is small, and many Vids AI features are English-only.

Fliki

Fliki's free plan gives 3 credits a month, needs no card and includes 300 voices and stock media. Its calculator estimates 0.5 credits per minute with stock footage, which works out to about 6 minutes a month.

Exports are 720p with a Fliki watermark. AI video clips, commercial rights and YouTube publishing are not included.

Best for: Narrated explainers built from a script or blog post, for personal testing.

Weak spot: Some workflows are marked "Limited" on the free plan, and you cannot use the output commercially.

Viibeo

A free Viibeo account starts with 10 credits and needs no card. That covers one stock-footage faceless short of up to 30 seconds, and the second try of that kind is free. You get the script, voiceover, footage and captions.

Free exports are 720p at 30 fps with a viibeo.com watermark. AI visuals start at 33 credits for 15 seconds, and UGC creator ads start at 20 credits for 10 seconds, so signup credits cover neither. Autopilot posting is not included either. The allowance does not renew.

Best for: Testing one faceless short from a prompt before you pay for anything.

Weak spot: It is a test, not a free tool you can keep using. For recurring free video, Google Vids or Fliki is the better pick.

Microsoft Clipchamp

Clipchamp's plan table includes watermark-free exports at up to 1080p, AI video and audio editing tools, and free stock assets on a personal Microsoft account.

Best for: Cutting your own footage, or clips from a generator, into a clean video.

Weak spot: You still do the editing, so it won't make a finished video from a prompt.

HeyGen

HeyGen's free plan includes 3 watermarked videos a month of up to 1 minute each, with one custom video avatar and 500+ ready-made presenters.

Best for: Testing an on-camera presenter without filming.

Weak spot: It is built around a face on screen, so it is the wrong format for a faceless channel.

Runway

Runway's free plan is a one-time deposit of 125 credits that never refreshes, and the pricing page lists removing watermarks as a paid feature. Gen-4.5 costs 12 credits per second, so that would be about 10 seconds. The models on the free plan change, so log in to see which ones you can use.

Best for: Judging one cinematic model before you subscribe.

Weak spot: Once the credits are gone, the free plan generates nothing more.

Canva

Canva's AI tools on the free plan draw from a shared monthly allowance. Magic Video, which builds a video from your clips or photos, is included on all plans. So is 5-second Image to Video while your allowance lasts. The Create a video clip tool is an Ultra AI tool, and the free plan has no access to those.

Best for: People already making social graphics in Canva.

Weak spot: Canva's main prompt-to-clip tool is not on the free plan, and the pages we read give no fixed count for free video.

Kling

Kling's plan table has a $0 Basic plan. It puts brand watermark removal, 1080p and 4K generation and commercial use on paid plans, and lists no included monthly credits for Basic. Third-party guides quote credit amounts that disagree with each other, so check your balance after you sign up.

Best for: Trying Kling's models if you are already considering the paid plan.

Weak spot: You can't plan around an allowance the plan table doesn't state.

CapCut

CapCut's free plan lists free templates and basic editing tools. Monthly AI credits appear only on the paid plans.

Best for: Editing by hand. We compare the two workflows in Viibeo vs CapCut.

Weak spot: It is an editor first, so don't count on its free plan for AI generation.

Which "free" AI video tools are not really free?

Three tools that often appear in free lists aren't free generators you can plan around today:

  • Pika: the Free plan has no watermark, but it includes 0 monthly credits. You pay for credit packs to generate anything, and the plan has no commercial license.
  • InVideo: the plan cards list Starter, Plus and Max, all paid. The same page's FAQ and the plan limits help page mention a Free plan with a weekly limit, but we did not find a published allowance.
  • Luma: the pricing page starts at Plus. We found no free plan there.

How can you test a free AI video generator?

Run the same test in two or three tools, so the free allowance goes on a real comparison:

  1. Write one prompt from your own niche, such as "3 facts about deep-sea animals, 30 seconds, vertical." If you need a draft, use the free faceless video script generator.
  2. Export the file. A preview doesn't tell you the resolution or show you the watermark.
  3. Watch it on your phone with the sound off, then on. Check the captions, voice and whether the visuals match the words.
  4. Read the commercial terms if the video will promote a business. Pika, Kling and Fliki all list commercial use as a paid feature.
  5. Work out your real cost at your planned volume, including re-renders.

For the full process from prompt to post, see how to make an AI video.

When is it worth paying for an AI video generator?

Pay when the free plan is the thing stopping you: you need a clean file, a bigger monthly allowance or commercial rights. Don't pay to test a format you haven't made once.

On Viibeo, Lite costs €17.50/mo billed yearly or €22 monthly, for about 12 clean videos a month with no Autopilot. Starter, from €32/mo billed yearly, adds Autopilot posting. A one-time credit pack also removes the watermark while its credits last. See Viibeo pricing.

If you only want generated clips and no narration or posting, a generator plan from Google or Runway may suit you better. Compare them on seconds per month, since that is how they spend your money.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best free AI video generator?

For most people it is Google Vids, because a personal Google account gets 60 seconds of AI video clips a month with no subscription. For narrated faceless videos, Fliki's monthly free credits are a better fit. For clean exports of your own footage, use Clipchamp. These limits were checked on 6 November 2026.

Is there a free AI video generator with no watermark?

Partly. Clipchamp's free plan exports without a watermark, but it is an editor, so you supply the footage. Pika lists no watermark on its Free plan, but it includes 0 credits, so you have to buy credit packs. We did not find a tool in this comparison that offers unlimited, watermark-free video from a prompt for free.

What is the best free AI video generator for TikTok and Shorts?

For one finished faceless short, try Viibeo, which covers two watermarked stock-footage shorts of up to 30 seconds. For a free allowance that renews, try Fliki, which adds its own watermark and exports at 720p. Google Vids can supply short generated clips, but you still need to add narration and assemble the video.

Is Viibeo's AI video generator free?

Only as a test. A free account gets 10 credits and no card is needed. That covers one stock-footage short of up to 30 seconds and a free second try, both exported at 720p with a viibeo.com watermark. The credits do not renew. Clean exports start on Lite at €17.50/mo billed yearly.

Can I use free AI videos for business?

Check each tool's terms first. Pika, Kling and Fliki all list commercial use as a paid feature. A free plan may let you download a video without giving you the right to use it in client work or advertising.

Why do free AI video lists disagree?

Free plans change often, and many lists quote old numbers. Google announced Vids in April 2026 with 10 generations a month, while its current help page lists 60 seconds a month. Trust the date on the comparison and the tool's own pricing page over any list, including this one.
